A man wearing a brown flat cap, a blue and white checkered shirt, and a green quilted vest standing outdoors with trees and a stone tower in the background.

I was looking at the internet the other day and spotted a glaring omission

Hello

no site about Richard Rycroft

I think I'm qualified to put that right

Here's what I know

Black and white photo of an older man with a serious expression, displayed on an old-fashioned CRT television with wood paneling. The TV shows rain outside the window.

Somehow, I've now been around long enough for older productions to start turning up on Talking Pictures TV and other 'retro' channels

Actor

TV, Film, Stage, Audio, Comedy

I will never not find that inexplicable

An elderly man with glasses in a recording studio, standing in front of a microphone, reading from a script or lyrics.

Voice

Audio was my favourite medium even before - long long ago - the Southampton & Winchester Hospital Radio Association generously welcomed to the mic a long haired radio-obsessed teenager with a barely broken voice and dreams that remain a work in progress

Drama, Comedy, Corporate & Training

A person with shoulder-length brown hair, glasses, and a light pink shirt, smiling and looking over their shoulder.

A man wearing glasses, a checkered blazer, and a dark shirt, speaking into a microphone, with a blurred background.

Comedy

Early in my stand-up adventure, realising I COULD make comedy audiences laugh, I started questioning WHY I would; what's the value of silly old comedy? I asked a friend, who replied without hesitation

And he was dead right

"People MUST be entertained"

Have you SEEN the state of the world that comedy audiences come from?!

Nighttime scene in Times Square, New York City, with illuminated billboards, electronic advertisements, and a crowd of people on the street.

Media

If you'd like to comment on any of them – or anything you've seen on this site - do send me a message via the Contact Form. I promise it won't generate any byzantine "how great am I and why?" questionnaires

Current Productions

We live in the age of the non-disclosure agreement, so I can't tell you anything about the TV, Cinema and on-line advertising campaign I've been contributing to recently – except I'm really looking forward to seeing it next Spring. Neither can I expand on a small support role in an nda'd new Netflix series scheduled for next year.

I CAN tell you that Warner Bros' Practical Magic 2 (a lovely family-friendly film that my new best friends Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are in too!) is still in some cinemas and due for a DVD release in December.

And I can encourage you to listen out for a new episode of Ramon Fear's Terror Tapes podcast. I've also recently recorded the voice of Cicero in a history related computer game and, in the forthcoming audio production of Jack Valentine Vampire Detective based on Josie Jaffrey's popular series of novels, I'll be the university professor who's also a centuries old vampire. Nice to play someone more mature for a change.
